Sardar is an 2022 Indian Tamil-language spy action film written and directed by P. S. Mithran and produced by S. Lakshman Kumar under the banner Prince Pictures.[5] The film stars Karthi in a dual role with Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Panday, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Yugi Sethu, Avinash and Balaji Sakthivel in prominent roles.[6][7] The film music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography doned by George C. Williams and film edited by Ruben. It marks Hindi film actor Panday's debut in Tamil cinema, and Laila's comeback to films after 16 years.[8][9]
The film was announced in November 2020 and began filming in April 2021, shootings of the film was delayed for 1 year due to the COVID 19 pandemics. Filming took places in Chennai, Mumbai, Azarbaijan and Georgia. Shootings wrapped up on June 2022, and moved into post-production works on August 2022.
Sardar was released by theatrically on 21 October 2022, prior to the Diwali week, and received highly positive reviews from critics and audience. The film was a critically and commercially success at the box-office, with grossing over ₹100 crore (US$13 million) worldwide.A sequel is in development
